My Japan Style of the Week

 [FF7 Cloud Strife Cosplay]
COSPLAY!!!!
For those who are not familiar, cosplay is short for "costume play." It is a type of performance art in which participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often  drawn from popular fiction in Japan, but recent trends have included American cartoons and Sci-Fi as well as other pop-culture. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, and fantasy movies. Any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject. It is not unusual to see genders switched, with women playing male roles and vice versa. So don't getmad if your son dresses like Princess Peach he is just having fun or making fun.

Here in the U.S you can usually see cosplayers walking aorund when a comic-con, anime conventions, or something of the sort is in town. No one really knows how this trend started for it is a mystery. Some say a girl in Japan started it when she dressed like her favorite character in an old manga. Others say it started in the U.S. with the whole Star Wars and Star Trek convention...I don't really care when it started I'm just glad it did because it is a very fun 'hobby,' or whatever people want to call it.

Yes I too haveexperienced some form of cosplay. Just this year in highschool for senior Halloween, I have dressed as Robin. I know I'm not a boy but he is really awesome...especially in Teen Titans!

I was even storm a couple of years ago.

I have yet to dress as my favorite anime character but I am geing there! As soon as the next comic-con hits in DC!

So why not try it. I'm sure all of you have some favorite character. Go ahead and just go for it..You might have fun! Real of unrealistic character, from the A-team to Batman you can be anyone you want! Hey be your 'own' superhero if you want!

My Japan Style of the Week

How about this style of the week. This is known as the Harajuku style. Harajuku (原宿) in Japan refers to an area around Harajuku train station. Harajuku style is a japanese fashion adopted by the teenagers and young adults in the area and its side streets which have many boutiques, trendy stores and used clothes shops.
Young adults in Harajuku may also be dressed as anime or manga characters (known as cosplay). Below we list the best online harajuku fashion stores and show you where to buy the very best in Japanese street fashion. The shops listed sell Japanese Harajuku fashion direct from Japan as well as from europe and USA(But it is hard to find in certain places here...I guess Hottopic is good enough...*cough cough* no)
I find this style to be very drastic to look at, though I would still wear it. All I have to say is that it looks like a lot to wear! This would be the first place I would visit in Japan just becaus ei would feel like an oddball for once. :) I love Japan!

This is So Me

Yes I am the kind of person who would come up with somehting like this in my mind. I mean I'm already having plans for the zombie apocalypse, so why not?  The old lady definitely has a katana in that box... Anway...just thought I'd share this, because the person who made this is a genius! I mean you really can't trust people nowadays, you know. Like that kid down the street who said they just wanted borrow your bike but never brings it back...okay I totally made that up, but it happens!

All I know is that you really have to plan these things because something weird could happen at any given moment. Like the birds falling out of the sky crisis! Call me crazy but I might just start walking around with a umbrella on a sunny day.

It's weird how it all just happend...Like the birds were some kind of mechanical machine all functioning through one power source then with the push of a button *BOOM* the battery is dead. Did that even make since? What if we're all just robots and we would just all shut down at the same time? Like in that movie...um......thinking........hold on let me ask my dad..............................."Surrogates"....It just makes you think..

No I'm just kidding we are all most likely controlled by aliens!

Fashion In Japan

So my biggest infactuation (besides zombies) is fashion in Japan! In the picture above is a very popular style that girls wear that was influencd by the Victorian clothing style. It has been modernized to be known as Lolita fashion [or Ouji Lolita in Japan and Kodona Lolita in the U.S.]. I personally think it looks like doll clothing or something you would see in many animes. I guess that is why I love it's unique and gothy look so much! It even comes in all sorts of styles and colors like blue, grey, red, black...I think you get the point. :)

Here is the Lolita dress of the week!

Though someone people would say "Who in the world would wear that?" Well I'd tell you, "As soon as I can get my hands on a lolita dress I definitely would!" I mean come on girls are walking around with their heads half shaved, while guys are wearing mohawks (ew). It is perfectly normal. Since you don't really see Lolita style here in a America, I though it would be awesome to be the only one 'catwalking' in public wearing a doll looking dress ...It's fun being different haha.

Also I finally found a site where the dress prices ae more reasonable...I guess -_-
